Fishing in reverse

I’ve been hunting and fishing since I was about 12 or so, but something I have never done was help the fish commission stock the adult trout before the seasons starts. Well, now I can check that off my list of things to do. My son and I went out this morning, out west to where our cabin sits along Penns Creek. We met up with the local crowd of guys, all in their late 50’s or early 60’s. My son was the only child there.

Once we finally left for our first drop point, I was hoping that these old-timers would not consider my 8-year old to be a hindrance. Once we got there I was quickly surprised to find it was quite the opposite. We heard people say things like “let the little guy get this bucket” and “this day is just for him”. These people went out of there way to make sure my son got as close to the action as possible.

Each bucket we carried had approximately 15 to 20 fish in it. Once the bucket was filled with fish, it was a race to the creek to get them into the water, minimizing the stress on the fish. We learned some facts about fish that I didn’t even know. The event only lasted maybe 2 hours, but my son had a blast.

Rather than bore you with any more details, here are the pictures.

Have you ever run a business out of your home? Me neither, yet we are doing so here, free of charge. Welcome to the wonderful world of volunteerism.

This is the last year for sure!
